The Texas Renaissance Festival

We went on the Highland themed weekend on the 11th (I know this post is late...but better late than NEVER!!!) and we had a great time.

When we first arrived I couldn't believe my eyes!  It was Lorenzo Lamas!

Well maybe not - but he kinda looked like him.  Nice chest though huh?

We walked a bit more and saw a centaur.  Who knew the people who go to these events have such awesome costumes?!  I'm not joking either.  This guy had the BEST costume it was really well made.  I didn't get a good photo - which was disappointing.

He was a very, very large man.  He's to the right of the woman with the wings and in front of the guy looking at me taking the photo.

This photo kinda got his face and you can see he's much taller than everyone else.

Here's a photo of a wizard - his staff was pretty cool

There were even people not dressed up in the period - these two above were dressed up as Stargate people (not sure of the proper name for them...).

This guy was a little creepy - he had claws on his fingers and was caressing his girlfriend / wife's neck with them.

This guy was a little cutie - I felt a bit stalkerish when I took the photo - but hey - he had a nice body and he was showing it off...

Barbarian Horde!

I couldn't figure out if this guy was passed out or just taking a nap.  As I walked past him I saw this in the distance....

I thought Yum!  They must be like the elephant ears you get at the fair.  WRONG!

This is where you actually get elf ears applied to your own ears.  Disappointed doesn't even cover how I felt.  Betrayed maybe?

We walked a bit further and saw these guys above...Pagans.  They went to a lot of trouble with their costumes - just like the centaur did.

This guy - he was a bit scary.  He had like NO body fat.  Let me just say I don't find that very attractive - although he did have a nice body.

Barbarian weekend was the next one - so I think some of these guys were practicing for "their" weekend.

And then as we left the park we saw this...

Plage Victim - begging for money. We gave her a quarter.

That's a lot for the Renaissance time period right?

Texas Renaissance Festival

Oh yeah baby!

I'm going to the "RenFest" this weekend~!

http://www.texrenfest.com/

See how I use the lingo?

And they have THEMED WEEKENDS people!

And this weekend is....

Highland Fling!

And guess what the weekend is when my sister is in town~?

Celtic Christmas!!!

Here is the menu for that weekend:

Breakfast
Quiche Cinnamon Rolls
Lunch
Fried Turkey Breast (on a stick)
Sweet Potatoes
Dinner
Tameales with Aguas Frescas
Prime Rib Trencher
Dessert
The King’s Kettle Corn

O.K. I'm not so into Tamales or Kettle Corn but I'm defiantly into QUICHE CINNAMON ROLLS!!!

I love Quiche and I FRICKEN adore cinnamon rolls.

The menu for this weekend is not quite so exciting:

Breakfast
Scotch Egg
Lunch
Shepherd’s Pie
Peasant’s Pocket
Dinner
Seafood Boat
Peasant Potatoes
Red Rooster Trencher
Dessert
Banana, Chocolate, Strawberry Pudding in a Cone

To be quite honest none of that sounds really good to me.  Maybe peasant pocket?  If it's like an empanada I'll like it...maybe.

Anyway it looks like a good time - stay tuned for the photos!

I LOVE HATS! HATS! HATS! HATS!

I got a new hat!!!!

I LOVE hats!

My husband is my enabler...

We went to the market - the Saturday Market in Anchorage.  http://www.adn.com/saturdaymarket/

And bought this hat - from a Russian lady.  Yes.  It's fur.  I'm not telling you what kind...but I will tell you that it's oh, so, soft!

This is me the next day on the way to Fairbanks to see my brother.  And of course I had to wear my HAT!

It was cold and rainy - the temp was about 60 (cold for the summer for me!).

My hat kept me toasty warm!  We stopped about 1/2 way at this cool restaurant and I had some cobbler and my husband had a root beer float.  TASTEE!

He started taking some photos - I think they turned out pretty good...

 We were having a blast.

I love my husband!

Blue Bonnets!

Guess where we went last weekend....

To the Blue Bonnet Festival in Chapel Hill!

Here is my husband walking down the street at the festival...

I thought the bank was cute - it was an old timey town.

There was a stand selling fried pickles, which made me think of Snookie.

And, no I didn't try one, I don't need to "change my life".

There was also a petting zoo, I haven't been to one of those in a long time.  They had a bunch of baby animals with, wait for it....

Baby PIGS!!!!  Can you believe it?!  They were so cute!  And since I'm only 6 months out of the Middle East I'm still obsessed with pigs.  So of course I had to buy a ticket and pet the little fatties!

This goat followed me around the whole time I was in the pen.  He really wanted food from me but I didn't feed any of them.  The kids were having too much fun feeding them and I didn't want to take away from that!

Funny enough there weren't actually blue bonnets at the festival - we had to drive a bit to see these.

They were very pretty.

OOPS!

My husband again...on his blackberry - his addiction.

This field of blue bonnets was pretty sad and dried out, but it looked better from ground level.

When we were driving home we saw some miniature horses - they were smaller than Gracie.

Too bad she wasn't with us for scale!

Humpty Dumpty...What did he do? Fall?

It seems like that's not all he did...I think Humpty may have a drinking problem or maybe a substance abuse problem...

Without further ado here are the Humpties!

Here is the one I bought - of course mine is not this big.  These bad boys were very, very pricey.  His name is Deviled Egg.  The smaller one I bought came with horns, but I asked the artist to cut them off because, well, they're horns.  Think of all the damage they could do to my floors, my little pony, and well... I didn't like them because, they're horns.

Call me crazy - I don't care...

I think this one was called Pickled Egg - I can't read the sign.  He seems like as ass at first but I liked him even though he's a snob.  I think the wine made him more approachable!

This one was about to Crack!

Ommmlet!  How fricken funny is that!?

 Fried!

I can't remember this one, I think it was scrambled!

A group photo - the big one is looking mighty smarmy - kinda like a used car salesman!

 D. RUNK.  And that's all I have to say about him.

The Humpties were so much fun and I'm still glad that I bought one.  It was shipped yesterday and I can't wait to get him!

At the festival there was a company that provided painting and supplies for a fee so you could paint.  They let you try it out - I painted the hat.  What can I say...I'm an ARTEEST!

You can even bring your own alcohol to drink while you're painting!  I can't wait to try it!

This one took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on...the monsters are carrying away the nomes...one in the back had separated a pink flamingo's head from it's body.  Very, very, funny.

There was so much more at the festival, here are some of the links of my favorites!
